Hi all - the CD autochanger on my recently-purchased 350SL is not responding to the head unit, so the HU keep sending the message that it's 'scanning'. The fault has been confirmed by my local independent Merc specialist. I have been quoted £500-£600 for a new autochanger! This on top of 2 hours' labour to remove the unit for testing, and the need to put everything back together again...
Can I assume that sourcing a replacement from a same model, same year car via eBay is likely to be compatible, or does the part number have to be exact?
Alternatively, can anyone recommend a specialist repairer?
Grateful for any pointers..!
Thanks.

Its quite likely its the magazine at fault not the changer.

Well the garage has tested it and said that there is no signal going from the changer to the head unit, so I guess I have to accept what they say. Command in Lightwater have had some good reviews so I am talking to them. Thanks.
