3D printed aluminium and titanium chassis and suspension parts with carbon fibre body parts. 700bhp and 630kg

An interesting engineering exercise, a huge saving in prototyping and the future of car manufacture?

I agree it's the way that low-volume production ia likely to go....but for the vast majority of these teaser projects, there is very little 3D printing that's not just under the skin.

There's still a problem getting a sufficiently good surface finish on the parts that show. I'm sure this will improve in time, but until it does, 3D printing will only be a cost-reducer, rather than a total-solution.

we have 4 small(ish) 3D printers at work, mostly never used..

I think the major benefit from 3D printing is the ability to very quickly produce parts that otherwise require expensive tooling to made first. Especially when making prototype or testing parts.

Just look at those suspension wishbones, very 'organic' and I'd imagine very expensive to replicate in the traditional way?
