Has anyone used a 3D printing business for creating badges or whatnot?

I've an old pre-merger AMG badge I'd like to print a copy or two of.

I don't think the surface finish would be good enough ... 3D printed items are normally quite rough.

The are a lots of 3D printing techniques that offer a good finish these days , if your half decent with 3D modelling software and you can draw up the badge you want lit shouldn't cost much either

I'm still slightly doubtful that a good/smooth 3D printed surface would be comparable to cast/polished metal but it would be great if that really was the case!

Actually, a fantastic finish wouldn't overly worry me. I'd be painting it black, so I could smooth any roughness with filler.

What I'd want though would be someone who could scan the badge to create the cad drawing which would then print.

There must be companies that would do this?
