3rd Brake Light, S211, 2009

Hopefully I'm missing a simple answer.

It's not illuminating, the 2 side brake lights are.
When unplugged it brings up the '3rd Brake Light' alarm on the dash.
iCarsoft V2 doesn't show a fault on the brake light switch, just N/O and N/C when the pedal is pressed.

I haven't tried yet I'm expecting the LED to light if I apply 12v to the pins, based on the ECU seeing a fault when unplugged.

Thoughts appreciated.

Common fault, the wires run alongside the hinges and wear away.

Easy fix

Thanks I'll take another look in the morn.
I would have expected a permanent open cct alarm but I should learn soon enough.

Turned out to be an unreliable connection at the plug.
I've bent the pins a little to hopefully make it more reliable,
I would close up the female pins in the plug but they're too small to manipulate.
