So if this 450SLC is as described, does anyone know if its worth the £1800 reserve?

I want a classic Merc at some stage :)
 
I wouldn't touch one. They are notorious for being rust buckets, to the point they are not economically viable to keep on the road.

I've yet to see a rust free SLC, you may find the odd concours low miler one but certainly not at that price.

In terms of affordable classics don't buy a SLC. The SL of that era didn't suffer that many rust probs, may be a better bet but will cost you significantly more.
 
I nearly bought one last year as a project :rolleyes: it was in quite good condition. The car was on Ebay, it was stored at a garage I knew very well so I had a chat with a mechanic friend of mine who worked there.

They had to do alot of welding to the sills and rear quarter panels even the floor pans :crazy: , so I agree With Nav on that one...;)
