5 series

has anyone noticed how cheap a low milege 525 new shape is?

seen a few for 23 - 25k with a few toys....

oddly tempting

Ex-colleague just bought one and thinks it's the mutts nutts. Very affordable...if you can live with the Peugeot 406 inspired rear end....

The shape of the saloon has started to grow on me now - nice alloys, sports supension, sports styling and car looks great.

seriously - if i have just clocked my 9th point as i suspect (grrr - was only doing 82 w/cruise set.) i will be buying one. The insurance on a 520 through BMW insurance is £125 less than the insurance on the c class now!!!!

Saw a nice new 5 Series sitting on truck beign delivered to owner I assume at petrol station.

P.S. Richie... I'm not surpised u got ponts on ur licence with the access that u have to some of these high powered cars in ur family i.e. CLS500 and Porche. Just make sure ur extra careful now ;)

Yeah the 5 series with the sports kit is very nice....

Saw an M5 in local BM dealer last week, dark blue, looked amazing. A neighbour has just got a silver 5 with nice wheels - debadged so don;t know what it is, but again, I think it looks fantastic

They are good cars, if you can live with the styling, especially the interior. SWMBO thought it was "vile", I was not too keen either and so that was the end of that.

One feature I really liked about the model I test drove was the head-up display. Not sure if that is an option or not, but damn useful

Ha! i know - luckily all the high power cars are now overseas away from the prying eyes of "The Labour Government & Their Evil Schemes To Raise Money"

First 6 points were SP30s on cameras....38 in a 30 and 40 in a 30. Silly boy but not exactly criminal....hope i get away with the 82....think that is fairly close to an ignorable speed.

Extra careful - fine advice from mr 160 mph man!!!! ;)

for the money I'd spend the £20-25k on an old shape M5, I still think the previous model are fantastic looking cars, especially with the led ring sidelights. :D Just a shame they never did an auto version.

yup :D and a great Q car look except for the quad tailpipes. More subtle than the current range of AMGs and arguably much better built :o

and not at all in keeping with my 'more points = slower car theory' :)

the 525 would have the same if not better performance than yours wouldn't it?

yeah they are pretty much the same but i think a saloon will be a more relaxed drive and less encouraging to throw about than a coupe with brabus suspension.

Its a bit more of a relaxed drive so hopefully the speed would stay down! Will prob look to get a 520 anyway...

Yep - don't like the interior on the new '5' ... (sorry Jason ;)) Old model is much nicer.

Head-up display is an (expensive!) option :)

The 'ring' sidelights (angel eyes) are not LEDs, believe it or not ... they are 10W halogen, with a clever light guide ! Rear tail lights are LED with light guide strips though.

I love MBs but the new 5 with sports pack and all the toys/gadgets is the business (with spare change still in ur pocket in compariosn to an equivilent spec MB). I guess thats why MB are doing Sports Edition models on the W203/211 to try and compete with BM.

I might be considering switching to a 5 series once they fall under the 20k bracket, i think the car is simply stunning and sits on the road really well.

Very dominating and the sports model is a beast - on par with the look off the e55.

I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!
