not sure if this has already been posted.

being presented by the shorty.

Why did the Aston DBS as driven by George Lazenby in OHMSS not get a mention. A serious ommission in a programme meant to cover all the Bond cars.

'cause he was the worst Bond.

^ Agreed. Never liked Dalton as Bond.

I thought he was OK personally, better than Timothy Dalton.

I thought Dalton's period was a bit of a let down.

But the franchise had been slipping prior to that. I don't recall being particularly enthused with Octopussy or For Your Eyes Only - and a View to a Kill was a bit better than those two but not by much.

Lazenby's OHMSS didn't just change because of Lazenby but it had a very different feel as a film from the three that preceded it (Goldfinger, Thunderball, and You Only Live Twice). The plot decision to have him play with a fake accent definitely didn't work. I suspect that if Lazenby had been given Diamonds are Forever then he would have been seen in a better light.

Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan had much better productions for their first couple of outings.

Danielle Craig got lucky with Casino Royale. As with OHMSS there was a change in structure/style from the preceding movies with Pierce Brosnan. Casino Royale worked because of the energy and also the gap from the previous film - but I think it was a weaker introduction than that of Roger Moore in Live and Let Die or Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye.

I'd been looking forward to the programme from when I saw a trailer a couple of weeks ago. What a disappointment. Instead of discussing and showing the Bond cars far too much time spent on the usual Top Gear type crap of recreating at great expense things that don't even start to compare. The "invisible car" and the Lotus "submarine" were boring beyond description. I think the programme was trying to appeal to the masses, but but may have failed. I had hoped the programme was going to appeal to petrol heads like us. In that, it came close to total failure.

The best bond car was the Vanquish...

I thought they went too far with it - it was overcooked.

Not a patch on the DB5 and the Esprit.

I think that is fairly normal for the fluff we see on TV these days. Loads of intercuts between different strands (why can't they just keep the attention on one thing for a while), lots of fluffy hype, things get weighed in the SI units of 'elephants' and 'London buses', and little explanation.

There is obviously a style manual that they have to stick to when they make these things - and it specifies that there should be very little substance.

Not being nostalgic...it brought us into the 21st century! I saw one the other day it looks nicer in flesh than the the DB9RS or as some people call it DBS....

1. DB5
2. Esprit
3. Daltons Aston (not sure of the name)

are my favs.
