500,000th W204 Rolls Off The Production Line​

Another production milestone was reached today at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant - workers finished the assembly process of the 500,000th C-Klasse Limousine since the W204 generation "came into force" in 2007. The model that rolled off the line in the morning of 15th December 2010 is a right-hand-drive C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY version, in Iridium Silver Metallic exterior paint finish, and will arrive at an UK customer.

Who's the poor guy who didn't get invited to the photo shoot "lurking" about 30metres back? We need to know. And is that Adolf's love child with the tasteful "blue braces" ensemble?

I reckon the W204 was the first true "model start" of Mercedes quality revival. Previous models had been markedly improved but had the "taint"of their past. Having said that I wish Mercedes would get rid of that adaptive [ damping on the cheap ]system which compromises the ride quality.

Hmm... UK customer, eh? I doubt it. It's in Avantgarde spec, i.e. the same grille as the Sport model in the UK but without the AMG body styling, and they don't offer Avantgarde spec on the W204 in the UK.

Notwithstanding the fact that the picture on the MB-UK website is a generic picture and actually of a LHD car (the interior mirror and lack of visible instrument binacle on the right-hand side of the dash gives it away), I had completely forgotten that the SE Executive model does, indeed, come with the Avantgarde grill.

I stand corrected and will dispose of the faulty anorak forthwith
