:( :( :( hi guys,, i sent various different threads re my 500 sec 140.. 1993 model..it initially had a performance problem, as in when kickdown it reach around 4000 rpm and just hesitate around that figure, it wasnt as responsive as it should be and every so often it would have a misfire on idle(most of the time it was real smooth on idle.. this gradually got worse as when kickdown was used it would hesitate around 3500 rpm then 2500 rpm until it got unbearable to drive (crawling) the car will not now start(engine turns nearly starts) but just wont... when i initially took the car to local specialist in leeds(scotts auto tec) he told me the fault code was the air mass sensor, however the wiring going to the mass sensor had deteriorated some what but he said he could patch it up,so a new mass sensor was fitted,£250 later and the car was however still not performing strongly,still hesitating @ around 4k. i then decided to take it to the main dealer for a road test and diagnosis(derwents of leeds).... £300 later they said there was no fault but if it was there car they would change the fuel pumps and filter which i did at the cost of £400 the car very annoyingly was still doing the same... i then checked dizzy caps, leads etc, all seemed to be fine..i thought the next move would be to check the wiring, it was quite bad so i ordered a new engine wiring harness at the cost of £350 the wiring was on back order, whilst waiting for this the car got worse right up until the point of not starting.one week after and the wiring arrived this was then changed but still no starting... i then suspected the main engine ecu, i sent this to fuel parts uk for testing they sent it back saying it was fine,, all the outputs were correct, my ecu was also put into my brothers coupe 500 same year and his car started and drove fine... my brother did however say that he had a similar problem with his car and said his asr light kept on coming on until it wouldnt start... after people saying it was ecu wiring etc it ended up bieng the throttle body, his car has been fine since despite having a shagged wiring harness... the fault code showing on my car now according to scotts is.24 fuel injector circuit short or open.. i dont now how good his gear is though...i sent all the injectors away for spray and resistance test they all came back today as fine... scotts are now saying they cant do any thing for me.. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.. CAN ANY ONE RECCOMEND A GOOD SPECIALIST WHO COULD SORT THIS FOR ME...? COULD IT BE THROTTLE BODY? if so how big a job to change? would the manifold have to come off? the car by the way has 117 000 miles in blue black... it has been off road for 4 months now,, many thanks to all.
 
Where abouts are you based?

I would suggest the EZL, its the ignition control module and looks like:

They cost £1200 new but can be reconditioned for alot less. I know someone that recons them so PM me if you need details.

Have you changed the entire loom? Also another thing you want to check is the crankshaft sensor, can cause these not to start.

Are you handy with tools? You might want to check the basics ie if there's fuel coming to the plug. Then you'll know if its an ignition or a fuel prob.
