I've seen a 500 SL for sale.
1981
78,000 miles
fsh
Soft and hard tops
auto
T&T
Bronze colour.

It looks in average condition, slight rust bibles on F/N wing and door, both have previously been resprayed. It needs a back box and maybe a complete system. The front spoiler under the bumper needs replacing as it looks like its hit somthing, but there is no damage, or replacement parts behind the bumper.

The seller is looking for £7,950.

How much are parts, exhausts and a respray?
What else do I need to look out for?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

I currentley run a CLK.

Parts are not cheap for any SL!

But the W107's biggest problem is rust - they can cost a fortune to put right.

Have a long look at the state of the bodywork - this could cost you a lot more than you could possibly imagine.

If you are unsure - then get an AA/RAC inspection if only to assess the structural validity of the vehicle - but they will at least point out any major failings, or expenses you may incurr.

It will cost a couple of hundred quid -but at that purchase price - its probably worth it !

Thanks, anyone else?

I'm also thinking of building a track day car, one of my options it to base it on a 190E. Has anyone already done this?
Any advice?

Thanks

I quite fancy stripping a 190e 2.6 and attaching a twin turbo setup for a track car.
