When it was last used regularly nearly 2 years ago it had a slight knock from the rear suspension. There was nothing obvious after a quick inspection when it was up on ramps and since then it has been in a dry storage unit for 18 months and for the last 4 months at home in the garage.
I take it out for a fortnightly exercise, letting the engine get up to temp, using the brakes, going through all the gears and operating the heating, air-conditioning and windows etc etc
Now, I did the same today and over 1000rpm I heard a high pressure fluid noise, which was coming from the rear of the car. Then by the time I had slowed down again (Only going 50kmh) the noise stopped untill I went over 1000rpm. At this point the handling felt funny and I pulled up onto my drive.
I then got out of the car and went to check the SLS fluid, this was well below minimum and upon walking past the car to get the bottle I keep in the garage i noticed this....
I'm presuming that the only thing which can cause this is for the load leveler to come adrift or malfunction?
Is this a common fault on the SLS equipped W124 Mercs as I know a lot of the estates have essentially the same system.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards
Dave!
