Hi Chaps...
Can anyone suggest a decent pair of after market speakers to fit in the original speaker housing on a 107, as my ones are blown I think...very crackly. And how do you remove/replace the covers?

Thanks

The cover are removed by a couple of screws at the base of the grills.

I replaced mine a couple of years ago, I will have a look when I get time at what I replaced them with.

There were some NOS on ebay a few months ago.

also the grilles themselves have a clip in them to hold them upright in addition to the screws. one of mine were missing - the dealer sells them. without them the grille drops by about 5mm and doesnt fit nice and tight against the dash.

i'm after the rear grilles at the moment. i dont know if these were actually fitted as standard but most seem to have speakers there. The rear grilles on mine are very old-fashioned, but the speaker inside is very good and new. a nice plain round one would be nice with no screw holes visible.

Mine car has NO rear speakers, so I would assume they are aftermarket.

Thanks, I am after a speaker upgrade though, I think the standard ones could be improved, but need them to fit behind the grills.
Regarding the grill fitting, one of mine (drivers side) fell off, it has the two spring clips at the top, but no screws at the bottom.
I will have to get the screws for them which must be missing from my car.

I think the mercedes speakers are quite good... With 2 speakers you are never going to get cinema sound but i feel they are adequate and so have left the original ones in.

There are lots of speakers on the market. I think they are 10cm? I got some JBL's for my widebody and am very happy with them.

I have used sony in my other cars and think they are good too.

They are definatly aftermarket speakers in there now and the wiring also suggests that. I've seen some advertised with very neat looking grilles in the back though....
