500SL with with ADS - what oil is in the resevoir?

Hi,

I've just serviced my 500SL and when I checked the oil resevoir level of my Adaptive Damping system (the resevoir underneath the spare wheel) I saw that it is a good way below minimum. Can anyone tell me what oil is used to top it up?

Has it got a part number on the lid? That number is for the fluid if it has.

I think any dealer parts dept. will sell you a bottle of the right stuff. With the potential expense of ADS repairs IMHO you've got to be VERY confident that anything else is exactly the right spec. I wouldn't personally take the risk for the sake of saving a few pounds (maybe).

Low oil level often means an accumulator (sphere) has gone, btw. Does the car feel a bit 'bouncy' at reasonable speed on uneven roads or harsh over bumps at low speed?
