OK I just put my brain in gear and remembered it's a Lysholm charger on these cars and not an Eaton like mine

Is it, i thought they were all Eaton!!!

Now you have me thinking but somewhere in the back of my head I seem to think the M113 engines had Lysholm type chargers made by IHI but I could be talking bobbins :dk: The only references I can find on Eaton chargers fitted to MB is on the M111 and M271 engines which are the ones I'm most familiar with.

However I am having extreme brain fade today so think I should go home and rest in the garden with a cold beer :thumb:

EDIT: SavMan beat me to it well at least the brain has not faded as bad as I thought :-)

Had a brief look for Lysholm chargers and the only thing i came accross was these chargers are normally fitted to US only vehicles.

But either way, i think im going to have to either strip the engine bay apart to look for something smaller than a 5p coin, or weld the hole shut . . . . or even perhaps just put some good old Blue Tak in there.

But first, i think im gona go and cry for a little while in a dark corner. :(

Can you remember the rough length of the bolt. I am pretty sure it is 1/8 tapered thread but not sure on the length.

Couldnt be more than about 8mm in length. I remember its a fine thread rather than the normal type.

It's not shown on EPC, ironically there is a number right next to where it is but that is the number for the complete compressor. There's also no reference to the oil in WIS even when replacing the whole thing which sort of suggests to me they're factory filled.

Ok, the closest thing i got to it was an M8 bolt that has a 6mm allen key head.

Unfortunately its slightly too loose, and i mean only just slightly too loose in there. An M10 would be too big and i dont know if theres such a thing as an M9, or wether the 1/8 is anywhere close to an M9. Sorry, but im really not very good with thread sizes.

I'd be worried about where the original went and would suggest you find that first. If it's gone down in the vicinity of the pulleys that could cause all sorts of damage if it got caught up and could come out like a bullet.

If you do find it you haven't got the other problem to worry about anymore :thumb:

When I changed mine, I only managed to take out about 110ml but put back in roughly 150ml. It started to come out of the fill hole at this point.

As for the length of the nut, it couldn't have been more than 5mm

I doubt you will find it the most likely place it will end up is under the supercharger

I dont think its coming out of anywhere any time soon.

Iv started the car up for a couple of seconds just incase it was on top of a belt or pulley but no one saw anything move anywhere. So where ever it is it not coming out of its own accord.
