55w or 35w HID

Can someone provide a recorded evidence of insurance being invalided cause of HID's fitted?
Cannot fit winter tyres ,its a mod and premium will go up, no hid's in my projectors fitted properly (better drive on yellowish bulbs and barely see in the dark). Does not make sense

There was a case whereby an undeclared modified car was in a fatal accident. Insurance refused to payout and car own lost their house.

No it isn't.

Fitting HIDs to a W204 would be okay as the lights are projector based

Regarding MOT they only need to have a correct safe beam pattern, no washers or levelling would be needed

Regarding insurance, just phone them up and inform them front lights have been modified so you're covered, not really hard is it

Modified with HID's only?

Technically it is illegal even with projector type headlamps as those headlamps will not have been type approved for HiD type lamps, they don't carry the correct EC code. The vehicle no longer complies with type approval.

It's all mute anyway, as everyone has already pointed out there is little will to enforce

Make sure you tell them how the lights have been modified...

Imagine explaining that to them lol

I'm guessing if done properly (say, retrofit facelift xenon) by the likes of command, with invoice to prove it would be better. But, still a mod

I put 35w HID into my Signum projector lenses. They were more than bright enough. If I'd put 55w in I'd have just been worried about blinding people.

A lot of the opponents of none-oem hids talk about you being sued if you dazzle someone and they crash. Has this EVER happened?

Pretty much what I did on my 203, Olly fitted new xenon OEM lamp units plus level sensor etc. I informed Direct Line who treated it as an option not modification as it was to OEM . They were very mod adverse.....

Now that's a result, I didn't think insurance companies would play ball with that

Forgot about this , fitted them much better than nightbreakers , the prokecters focus the beam so not scattered , looks and is much better overall

I suspect those who fit HID's for the "look" are going to do it regardless of the law but regarding how effective and safe they really are, do yourself a favour and read this first.
