Very much doubt the two tone interior is an AMG thing

Original or not it's still worth £25K to someone who wants one. Plus this has an AMG engine.

Ask Jay what his cost to build, I'd be surprised if the final bill came in at under £25K.

I have say I'm unsure about the interior though, it's unusual to find a 6.0 widebody with no Recaros. The interior also looks too clean as does the engine bay.

I like it but £25k, your 'avin a larf!

^ No Idea what its worth with these its what someone will pay,

It looks 'done' and ready to use so I guess thats a good thing for most people assuming underneath is ok also.

E-bay brings up some real scrppers for a few grand but then they can for for much higher price so how does it find its price point.

Maybe a specialist auction best for a car like this?

£25k sounds a lot but people looking at this it would probably be a 3rd car or weekend toy so too many its cheap to be different at that price..

the interior of this car is a like dream was done exclusive . Amg did offer 2 tone interior perhaps 3 cars where done due to the cost of this option

...

And it's located in Canada!

Neilz: I did read the advert but as I said I don't think it had anything to do with AMG

AMG did touch interiors but they did it in style and the finish did not look cheap

I stand to be corrcted though

The engine will have an AMG part number stamped on it as there was a limited run of 6.0 blocks. From that the engine and car history can be traced.

I'm not convinced by the interior, although AMG would do anything you wanted back then, as they will now if your cheque book is big enough.

I figure it's a Japanese car (with the mileage in KM).

If it's original and is what it's described as I don't see why it wouldn't fetch this money.

It will certainly never depreciate, infact it will probably appreciate over time.

I don't doubt it - it's like anything really where value is subjective.

However, I am talking purely from my point of view. One man's food is a...

I love the car but would never pay that for one.

If it is the same one which was posted earlier last year (also Canadian), it's been up for sale for ages so presumably not many others would pay that for it.

Its clearly had an interior re-trim and like a lot of North American cars its been upgraded to a more modern style (helps sell the cars in those markets as customers want the looks of an older car but upto date detailing, such as trim)

The interior is never AMG.

looks like a fair example, devil is in the detail which cannot be seen in photos

Such a beautiful car. I actually quite like that interior, be it a genuine or custom job.

The engine will not have an AMG stamp or number - this engine is a SOHC version and only the DOHC M117 engines came with specific stamped numbers.

No proof that the SOHC engine is 6.0 displacement either, without AMG paperwork (that did come with these cars back in the 80s), it could well be a standard 5.6litre M117.

Only AMG bits this car has are the ground effects. Interior is shockingly boy racer.

The car probably cost less than 10k gbp to put together using the AMG body parts....without a DOHC engine, the SEC widebody price is at best 10-15k gbp. Only DOHC engined Widebodies are going to be fetching +25k GBP.

Flicking around on the web, I found this: 1985 Mercedes 500SEC AMG 5.4 Widebody*|*German Cars For Sale Blog

At first glance I thought it was the same car, same interior, save for a couple of details. So it seems maybe this was an original AMG interior? Either that or both cars were have been retrimmed identically. Personally, I quite like it, but each to their own I guess.
