Received my usual Regtransfers junk, er, newsletter - so the 62 plates are out soon:

62 Release
The next new registrations release will be on 12 June. The "62" registrations offer a wide range of possibilities. There are many excellent name and word registrations (), such as EN62 AVE, UP62 ADE, BY62 AVE, EN62 OSS, MC62 ATH, PE62 AMS, MC62 AWS and many more.
We are taking advance orders (subject to conditions) for these registrations. Please order early as interest in "62" number plates is already very high and, of course, there is only one of each number! To avoid disappointment call us now or visit our 62 release web page.

Took me a while to work out what the words were even meant to stand for, I take it they somehow tricked themselves into thinking "62" looks like "GR"

The last one I don't even follow myself - McGrath?

:wallbash:

Yes... as in Rory McGrath (TV) or Glenn McGrath (Cricket).

You could buy AN62YNZ.

Just wait for next year MB63 AMG. That will be worth tons of money.

I had a look when I got my E63, anything with MB and AMG on is worth loads you could get E62 AMG for £400 then E63 AMG for £4000, they are not daft!!

But since when has 62 looked like GR?

They seem to have covered most of the options already. Clutching 62eedily at straws, if you ask me.

Bit of UNIX magic, not all guaranteed to be valid plates:

Code:
mark@vps:~$ cat /usr/share/dict/words | egrep '^[a-hj-z]{2}gr[a-hj-z]{3}$' | tr 'a-z' 'A-Z' | sed s/GR/62/

LE62OOM would be good on a Maybach GR, I suppose. Looking ahead:

These plates are worthless though once the nomenclature is dropped.

I remember GTE16V was a fortune at one time when I actually had one.

Unless you pay peanuts for it - they are a risky strategy.

Then you have the issue of constantly having to put your 'M3BMW' number plate, which assuming you bought it because of the car, either on an M3, which limits your choices or you put it on an E63AMG or you are forced to sell it.

If you have to sit & work it out to read it - what's the point! Other than obvious names, the best bet is to have as few characters as poss. Perhaps, 628? ('GREAT' in DVLA speak?)!

I'm much more excited about the 69 plates coming out.....mmm.

Not sure the wife is though.

Joys of marriage eh...

An update, first with "14" == "IA", then with "LA". Again, not all valid plates.

Code:

Hi Troon. Would you be able to run a unix command for possible 64 reg combinations? Thanks

Jaya, feel free to install "cygwin" on your lousy Windows workstation, then you can run a bash shell and any bash tricks pretty much the same way you would in Linux (or rather than UNIX which doesn't have that user-friendly shells), or if you have a Mac, you already have a "zsh" environment...

But... I am sure there are British websites for looking up future number plates with potential "English-likely looks".

Needless to say, I personally don't share the willingness to waste my time and money in these number plate ego show-off business...

To be honest i'm not much of a techy as such, so i'm afraid that would be rather difficult for me to achieve. is there any other alternatives?

Car related plates are only good if you plan to keep that car.

My plate has been on 9 vehicles now and everyone in my family is lined up to buy it off me but it will be kept and handed down to my son one day. Unless they scrap plates completly and just have Barcodes.

62 as GR is just a sad money grabbing exercise

I have 4 personal plates over 20 years old but these new ones are pathetic to be honest.
