Got a simple question on the Mk2 (639) Vito and Viano that I am sure someone out there can help me on.

Apart from the seat slider/runners on the Viano, are the benches and seats interchangeable in the back.

I thought as long as I line up the seat mounts in the Viano before detaching the individual seats, I could interchange it with a Vito bench to increase my passenger capacity.

Common sense says that MB would make these interchangeable but we all know about manufacturers and common sense don't we ? we've all been there! - so I'd thought and check.

Thanks in advance.

Best bet would be to find a friendly dealer and try it. I doubt anyone will actually know for sure!

Seating rails are an option on the Vito Traveliner (minibus version), but only with "comfort" rear seats (which are possibly now called "luxury"!). So my guess is that the comfort/luxury seats would go in the Viano.

hi
tomorrow i can measure the distance between rails.or if you live near sutton you are wellcome to come and try my seats

Hmmm, I've heard a few differing stories regarding Viano seating configs. I have a 59 LWB Viano with the twin bench arrangement. The 2 benches are indeed different and not interchangeable with eachother. The front bench has outer armrests, and the rear is sculpted around the interior trim. I asked whether it possible to fit the table unit to an 8 seat Viano and was told no due to the floor tracks being different. When looking for my vehicle, most of the ones in stock had captains chairs in the back, and the dealer told me that for about 2 grand you can convert to benches. According to him, the floors are different.

hi
measured with poor lighting so could be a little out.distance between outer rails 41 inches. distance between outer rail and first rail 14 inchs. on thursday i can take picks of attachments and then you can compare with viano

hope this helps .

I've measured the distance on my Viano rails too. Its 1049mm or 14.25inches between the outer rails and 349mm or 13.75inches between the outer and inner rails. It seems the rails on the Viano and the Vito Traveliner are the same - good news. I am re-assured! Thanks for the offer of trying your seats out - I think I should be OK.

I also have a table in mine with 4 individual seats in the back and the only difference I can see is an extra pair of sliding rails in between the seats for the table. It might be the case that some Viano 8 seaters don't come with these extra rails from the factory.

I'd thought I bring this thread to a close. I can confirm the Vito an Viano Seats and Benches are interchangeable. You just have to remember that on the Viano, you need to line up the left & right seat (mounts) on the sliders before taking the individual seats out before putting the bench in. Get the legroom as you need them as its vey difficult to adjust the bench position once they're in as the Vito bench may not have a lever to adjust its position.

hi can some one tell me the length of the rails in a vito travelliner / viano for a long wheel base. I have just bought four from a local garage but they are all 2170mm long and i assume the 2 inner ones are supposed to be shorter. If so by how much?

thanks for you help.

The centre double rails are about 310mm shorter than the single outer rails and take the table on the inner rails.
