Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and unfortunately have to start out with a problem I'm hoping someone in here can help me with.

I have a 2009 E350 Cdi Coupe Auto and the transmission is worrying me a lot.

I had it in with Mercedes a few days ago for a gearbox oil and filter change.
The next day it had one rough gear change from about 1st to 2nd, maybe 2nd to third, I wasn't paying too much attention.
Same again the following day, just the once and everything was ok after that.

I also noticed that after the tranny oil change, the gears weren't changing up as quickly as before.

Tonight I went to head out and I put the car in reverse and it's just revving. It's definitely in gear as it is moving but it's revving really high and only moving like 1mph. When I put it back in drive to put it back the few feet it travelled I had pretty much the same experience going forward.

Any ideas what might cause this fault(s)?
Any idea of the cost of a repair?
Thank for any help you can give.

Sorry, I know there are many threads about the rough gear changes but I can't find anything about the car not moving at all.
Thanks again

does anyone know if the square pan should be replaced with the bevelled pan during an oil change or is that just when transmission repairs are carried out?

thanks

just realised the correct pan should be on this as it's an 09

Get back to that dealer and get some more oil put in. They have to be filled at exactly 40c through the bottom. A really bad bit of design.

hello, this could well be down to the torque converter initially. i open and close mercedes units daily and the breakdown of the lock up friction plates could give these symptoms as the transmission filter blocks! that said, if you had a recent filter/fluid change the contamination would have been evident. it might be worth putting on merc star machine. the first signs of converter failure is a judder and vibration through the transmission. if i could assist any further i am open 7 days. www.theconvertershop.eu
cheers, Shane.

I've had the Mobilo service out this morning. they have referred it back to the dealer. Just waiting on the tow truck. I'll update later what's happened

What about the gearbox...? :bannana:

I had the same syptoms recently with my 08 320CDI. Driving back from the garage where it had been repaired after an accident. All of a sudden no drive, engine revving fine but hardly moving. Pulled over and saw oil gushing out. Had the car recovered back to the garage, an oil line for the gearbox had failed. I agree that it must be very low on oil causing it to not function properly.

Thats rare an oil line goes, bet the dealer hasn't filled it up right. It (speaking to an Indie) is a t*rd of a job to do right

Complain to the dealer over the phone and send the service manager an email, tell him the gearbox is jumping changes and hard to control since the recent oil change, then drive the car back to the dealer and reverse through the dealers plate glass window........

That might get them to do the service correct the next time!:mad:

At over £150+ an hour at a Main Dealer supposedly fully trained with the latest technology there should be NO chance of this kind of thing happening.

I get so mad at main dealers, they are the Bain of manufacturers, even more so with Mercedes as they are actually under the direct control of the company AFAIK........

I got word back today from the dealer that everything's been sorted (I hope). It was short a litre of oil. I'm not impressed but at least it's been put right. I was more worried that it was going to be a mechanical failure and it would need major work.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Auto gearboxes is an area i've not got much experience with and it was a great help to get some good advice.
