Hi, What do they mean by :COLD STALL : & what are the symptoms ? Thanks

Start the engine and put the gearbox into gear and the engine stalls. As the engine and ATF warm, the problem goes away.

That is a very informative article and might explain the 7G shudders on up and down changes.

I would be very interested to find out if any one has tried the spring mod in their torque converter.

I spoke to a transmission specialist and he said that it causes the box to no longer lockup properly.

Cheers

Very good article but ive never heard of the stalling issue in the UK, only the juddering which of course is very common.

A TC recon fixes this issue so why mess with springs etc.

The reason I asked is I have changed my torque converter and had the valve body refurbished and changed the lockup solenoid but my car still shudders/judders at low revs light load.

I am now thinking of getting the TC reconned at a different place and change the atf pump if there is any wear in the front bushing where the torque converter hub rests.

Thanks

if you have had your tc changed was it a refurbed one ifso they would have changed those bit hey ?

if it has been refurbed your next option is the plate where the speed sensors are and the tcc lock up solenoid. from my experience with mine

Thanks for the suggestions

Yes I believe the bearing in the torque converter was changed but the bearing I was referring to is the one mounted in the pump which is seperate to the torque converter.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the electrical plate (no fault codes) and the hydraulic part has been refurbished.

I plan on removing the box and fully stripping it on the bench once I work up the courage:D

good luck with that mate i would try cheapest stuff first , also plate may not throw out codes , experts on here will prob confirm :dk:

I've just had my TC changed along with the conductor plate. Total cure now, I think the TC is the problem for most of these issues. Good luck.
