New to the forum-thanks in advance to anyone that can help. Yesterday 10 minutes before delivering car to new owner I noticed battery was dead because key had been left in. In my hurry to get it ready I hooked up the jumper cables in reverse order (I know..). Fried the cables and I could smell something burning on 450. Smelled like electronics.

Now I have three new problems. 1- car won't get spark-just keeps turning over. 2-windshield wipers will not turn off and 3- gas gauge not working.

Before I read through this forum I assumed coil and replaced that. No help. Still no spark. Learned about OVP here, but still not sure if my car has one. Located some relays behind the PS kick panel, one has two fuses, but they seem ok.

Since I fried the old battery (1000 amps), I am using a 700 amp battery and my mechanic says this may not be providing enough power to create spark.

Do I have a OVP? and if so is it logical to assume that I fried it? Is there some truth to the amp issue?

Thanks-

Mike:crazy:

The ignition and injection systems in these cars are protected by fusible links. They are located close to the battery positive terminal. If one or both of those are gone then you would have no fuel or ignition. Check first for a spark and petrol supply. After that I think you need the services of a good auto Electrician.

There also should be a ceramic ballast resistor on the N/S inner wing before the HT coil. You may have damaged that.
