Hi there

w124 coupe 1994 320 (8 hole alloys)

I have the long type wheel bolts and have read on other posts here that they are prone to seizing, then snapping.

Has anybody got recommendation for replacements

Many Thanks

EMH

Not heard this before. I put a little grease on the thread. So far never had a problem. Our 124 has 17 inch AMG mono blocks - the correct 124 fitting. Bolts were from alloywheelsdirect.net. Cant remember the make of bolt but so far there is no corrosion on them after 10 years.

Not heard this before.

Sign of the times - people/tyre shops are more particular now about not torquing wheels up to 3 ugga-duggas, and many of the extended shank bolts will have been replaced by now.

Roll back 15 years or so and it was commonplace, to the point dealers routinely kept sets of the new bolts in stock.

I have never seen any wheel bolt snap, maybe if you had cheap Chinese ones they would, but buy proper ones and you will never have a problem, it's not like genuine ones are expensive, so not worth taking the risk.

This is why Mercedes discontinued them...
