today I managed to drive the CLS into a petrol station when the display was showing 0.0 gallons remaining, with a range of 1 mile ... this was semi deliberate :)

I then pumped in 76 litres, and convinced myself that the fuel gauge was always pessimistic.

However, I managed to put in another 4 liters slowly ..

Which means I should have run out fuel, or would have soon after.

May be the 80 liter fuel tank has a secret compartment somewhere !!

Or maybe it has 80 litres plus the amount in the fuel filler tube. I managed to put 82 litres into my first 210...it had an 80 litre tank too. If you want to know...carry a spare gallon...and let it run out.

I just think someone is watching over you Sean and you were a lucky son of a gun to get to the petrol station. :D

I'm not sure I'd enjoy paying for 80L in one hit. So far I've never broken the £100 fillup.

I 'filled up' my 90 litre tank yesterday;

No wonder very few people pay cash for fuel... With such big amounts is almost impossible...

Its more difficult to pay using the auto pumps and card...alway cut off at £99.......means I only get just over three quarters of a tank

83 into my 80 easily.

I've gone past £120 of unleaded filling the 500 on a number of occasions ; I think that is a 90L tank .

Some W116's and R107's have 100L tanks !

Great idea, I must try that!!!!

:)

Better than 59.5 into a 59 tank.
i wish my 212 had a proper tank, not 59 litres.
Not that i enjoy unloading £110 in one go, but what on earth is the benefit of a smaller tank? (some mathematician will tell me how much time on average i am carting around the extra weight.)

On my previous car which had a 70ltr tank I managed to put 70 when the computer showed zero miles zero fuel... I am sure I was running on fumes....

On the current one (911-997) which it has 63ltr tank I have managed to put 60... Always too scared to risk it.... On the A160 I have managed to put 53 ltr and it has a 55 ltr tank when it started telling me that range was zero...:) In terms of cost never managed to go above £90 on my Porsche and that is with Super Unleaded..

I remember when putting £20 of fuel was more than enough to almost fill up the car and that was in the 90s ...... since then prices have rocket...

Unfortunately I remember when for £20 you could fill every car on the forecourt! :D

I've put 102.something litres into a GL's 100 litre tank, and another member has managed 103, I've managed 31.5 litres into a 30 litre Smart tank. There's a few litres worth of filler tube that you can use.

i cant believe you guys let your fuel get so low! sucking the rubbish up from the bottom of the tank!

i normally fill up when at 1/4 tank, yesterday was 61 litres in my 80 litre tank

What rubbish? These aren't unprotected steel tanks and all pumps have filters on.
I took my tank out and it didn't have any rubbish in it, but it did have the fuel coating stripped off due to trying vegetable oil and Bio-diesel.

The most I have put into my 80 litre tank is 84 litres.
