hi everybody.

i have 94 model w202 c220 diesel mercedes car.

my instrument cluster's engine tempurature gauge is not working.

the workshop say me to change the cluster. the problem is in the cluster.

my cluster part number is A202 540 56 11 motometer (220 km/h 6000 rpm). i can not find the same part number cluster.

some experts says me to change the cluster with 93-96 model all w202 diesel car vdo cluster. he says all diesel clusters are the same but the symbol trip's are diffirent. in the attachment you see it.

he says change the symbol trip's with the old cluster to new cluster and put it to your car.it will work.

are motometer and vdo clusters plug scheme same?

is it true???

i find some cluster numbers from epc.

A 202 540 54 11 from c200 diesel 93-96 model.i think its vdo. (i find it from a crashed car  )
A 202 540 02 47 from c250 diesel 93-96 model. i think its vdo too.

thanks a lot for your replys!.

How sure are you that it is the temperature gauge that is at fault as that is quite uncommon.
It could be that the needle is sticking to its stop pin
or
The temperature sensor at the engine (if that is where it is located on a deisel?)
or
The sender in the fuel tank.

If it is definitely the gauge that is at fault then a better solution would be to swap the temperature/fuel gauge from another similar year car, the can be unscrewed via 3 screws and unplugged as in photo.
