hello everyone !

please read the following, coz it's a nice
(sad) story !

i have a '94 C280, that was originally manual 5 speed, when it was produced.

it seems the guy who sold it to me is soo dumb, thay he changed it to an
automatic transmission,

but using a C180 4-speed auto transmission, while leaving the same old
differential, that has a ratio of 3.27 (auto C280 needs one with 2.82 ratio
as i know) !!!!!

so now the car has a great acceleration, but a maximum speed of 170km/h
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to change it back to original manual 5speed, and i wanna know:

This differential (3.27) is the one for a manual 5 speed, right ?

Does the manual 5-speed of a 190E 2.6 or 2.3, work on it ???

anything else i should replace, add or remove ?? thanx a lot guys. and hope
to know soon.

No, I'm afraid you wont drop a 190 Box striaght in there...

You could however probably geta Diff to fit easily enough.

All C-Class diffs are 124 part numbered and 230E diffs are the same as 180 (as a rule of thumb, not entirely true)
Ratios in the diff are easier to deal with than a box change...

:)

hmm, then u think a 190 2.6 gearbox wouldn't work,

but as diff level, it's the one fitted is the right one for a manual 5

speed C280 for sure, coz the car was manual originally. I hope i

can find a used manual 5-speed for a C280. i've already spent a

lot working on the vacuum that was faulty, and the kick down

cable that wasn't even there.

regards,
Basheer.
