95 M 202 with running trouble, help!

Hello all.

I am after an insight/help. I currently run a 126 300se as an everyday car but the mileage is racking up and I have bought a 95 M C200 elegance auto which I will use as an everyday runner and the 126 will be a weekender.

However.... after 2 days use I have hit a stone wall, The engine will not rev over 1500 rpm, it will not change out of 1st. I fitted a new crank sensor thinking this maybe fix but to no joy.

Has anyone come across this problem before? Does anybody know what these symptons might be causing to this rather clean tidy redundant 202 that I have just purchased???

Sounds like the MAF sensor, try cleaning the throttle body also.

Sorry to hear that you did that but anyway how fast were you goin?
I have a c180 w202 and i cracked mine of a pole pretty hard but its perfectly fine.....
Try the flywheel sensor, its connected in with the gearbox i think

when I say hit a stone wall I dont actually mean driven into one. I mean it in a loose sense of the car has stopped stone dead will spin on the key and turn for 5-8 seconds revs all over the place upto 1500rpm. The revs die completely when i quickly select drive or turn the steering wheel the engine cuts out again.
