HI

When I start the car, everything is fine, no warning lights etc.... As you start to drive it, the yellow triangle flashes many times and the ABS / ETS light up with a message about EL. Traction ETS Support on the dash.

The car drives ok, steering gets a little heavier but when you switch the engine off and back on, all the lights have gone until you start driving again.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance:rock:

Brake switch would be a safe bet. Its easy to do and will cost you about £8 (eight). Do a search on the forum and I believe there is a howto on how its changed.

If it was the brake light switch the yellow triangle would not be flashing. Have you had any tyres replaced recently? It sounds like the abs system thinks one wheel is spinning faster or slower than the others causing the triangle to flash.

The fault memory needs to be read and diagnosed. Maybe a speed sensor?

I've just had a similar problem, turned out to be dirty sensors. Not sure where the dirt came from, but each one and a good glob of black gunge on it. Quick clean up and hey presto!

Cheers,

Rod.

Just Got The Abs Light Extinguished On The C180. Turned Out To Be The Ovp Relay.Abs Was Asleep DUE To The Relay Being Open Circuit.

I had the same problem with my C class last summer turned out to be a wheel sensor and was replaced by an indy @ £210. At Christmas the problem came back again so I purchased a multiplexer from Ebay turned out it was another wheel sensor so I replaced the other 3 @£165 for all 3,
as they all must have worn out.The fault codes will have to be cleared by somebody with diagnostic equipment. Hope this helps
