Is it just the area I live or is it wide spread? Closest to me is around 10 miles away now and that’s Tesco. There used to be a shell around 5 miles but that’s now changed hands to a different fuel company. The nearest station to me has stopped doing super unleaded all together.

Is it just Tesco and shell that do the 99 or above now? They’re so rare around here I find myself embarrassing myself by putting a measly £10 of 97 oct with the plan of finding some v power or Tesco further into my journey. People must look and think I can’t afford to run the car. I almost want to explain why I’ve only just put a tenner in when I go to pay lol.

I think it is just where you live

Yeah only Tesco and Shell do it now, both very common in my experience.

I believe that's high on ethanol which actually decreases mileage and is bad for small engines. I unknowingly used 91 Oct from tesco until I did the research on 101 Oct fuel after a friend started the conversation. Anyway I have never seen a petrol station that offered 101 or even 99 Oct in London and based on my research which I can't recall nowadays, I started using BP super unleaded 97. Problem with the two unleaded in a V8 is that it needs a lot more to get going. I noticed terrible acceleration times etc

Yes Tesco and Shell, although I recall a BP station (or maybe more than one) had even higher octane rate, near Milton Keynes maybe.

^ 97RON is the highest octane on any BP station around my way.
As above, only Shell and Tesco offering 99 RON

Now i’m Thinking about it I think it might have been near Billing Acquadrome or Santa Pod. Slightly random I know :)

I’m going to have a search as I live near SantaPod, any excuse to have a drive ;)

There are lots and lots of Shell garages selling V-Power around London and the SE. Not sure about other parts of the UK.

So do I, I thought you were Northampton way for some reason. We’re lucky as there are Shells everywhere in Northants!

You don’t drive a black clk do you?

Hey Ash, I have a weird definition of ‘near’ I’m about 20 mins from SantaPod. ;)

Yeah we have loads of shells and tesco fuel stations here, as well as some great roads!!

My clk is silver! and estate blue :-)

91 Octane fuel is not sold in the UK,95 is the Regular or standard octane rating.

Only BP fuel had a rated at 102, Shell V power Nitro was 99 as is Tesco Premium.

The 102 RON BP fuel will be the stuff I spotted some years ago then.

(Tesco 99 RON is known as “Momentum”).

Not today mate, although I am down by Kettering/Wellingborough often. :-)

Quite possibly. Maybe. Not sure. It was a long time ago!

DSM10000 mentions BP 102 RON which sounds about right. A little Googling suggests the petrol station might have been Chicheley Park Connect in Newport Pagnell, or Wavendon Gate Connect in Milton Keynes.
