A 140 non starter.

Just got this a 140 classic year 2000 80,000 miles. Wife drove home 100 miles. no probs -- but noticed dash display not working. Car would not start later-- but did start 10 mins after this.Next morn no start -- but started 15 mins later. Wife drove all day ( she is a nurse so many stops /starts ) ok until 16.00 then no start. AA seemed to get it going . His thoughts were key/immobiliser.Wife got home -- car not started since thursday last. Starter motor turns over normally. All other functions ok. No smell of fuel. I am lost on this one so any help /opinions are welcomed.
I have e220 cdi 1999 and have managed to get over/ fix probs with this over the last 10 years, regards CHRIS

When you say the display isnt working - are you saying no lights at all when you turn the key?

Do they light up on the occasions the car does start?

Hello spike, All the dash lights work apart from the display -- so no gear indication/clock or milage. No these did not work when car was running. The car has not run since thursday. The batts ok and the starter spins as long as the batt lasts. All electrics work. Thanks chris
