A case in point re Merc rust vs Other Manufacturers

Have a look at this thread, a Peugeot is sat covered in dirt for 4 years. Leave a Merc (pre 2004 certainly) like that for 4 months and it will rust to nothing. However, the Peugeot coems out smelling like roses, without a spec of rust (as far as I can see).

In fact after the commendable clean and polish, the 1996 Peugeot has considerably better body work than my 1999 CLK!!
