This car is a full automatic, but does it still have a clutch. Have the chance of one really cheap, and it would be ideal for my daughter. But on a test drive the car jerka and sounds/feels like a clutch is slipping

Auto 168 a classes are time bombs.

Unless it is literally throwaway cheap , I'd forget it.

The fact that all is not well on the test drive would make me walk away. Auto gearbox repairs on these cars can be more than the value of the car.

I forget what the faulty part is called but I've seen a damaged one in an auto gearbox repair shop.
From memory it's a splined part that gets graunched.
There won't be the usual error messages on the dash, but take-off from rest is jerky.
It can be repaired but not worth it on a 1999 car, look around for a working one.
