If you want a W168 buy a manual diesel... just about avoids all the expensive common issues.

As I say, just came up in the search and not a car I'd considered. They seem to wear well though but I don't really know enough about them hence the post. Will keep an eye out for a manual, not feeling in any rush as yet!
