A-Class W168 210 Evolution.

Occasionally, after starting, the car will not go into any gear. After eventually getting the car into gear and setting off, it may still be difficult to change gear for about 5mins after which the car is fine.

On starting pumping the clutch seems to make no difference.

The car was serviced not long ago and is only driven twice a month.

Anything to look at?

Thanks,
R

Has the transmission fluid been changed recently?

It has a clutch, therefore it's entirely possible that it's a manual gearbox. Checking the gearbox oil would be a good starting point, though. I'd also check the clutch hydraulic fluid level.

Yes, gearbox oil, i stand corrected. sarcasm is the lowest form of wit...

Its going to be a clutch slave or master cylinder issue if its a manual... maybe air in the system somewhere.

thanks all.
