Just returning from delivering No.3 child into town only to meet a tractor and trailer exiting a right-hand bend. The tractor was moving quite rapidly, so much so that the trailer bounced sideways into my path  I managed to avoid the projecting bits of machinery by jinking left only to catch what must have been the only stretch of kerbing along that bit of country lane!

Results below.... :( :(

Both front and rear near-side wheels badly scuffed. On close inspection it seems mostly powder coat and lacquer damage but the alloy is gouged in places. Hopefully a refurb can correct and restore them.

How can I best tidy them up and protect them until I get them sorted?

Perhaps this is what I need to push myself to get those new 'summer only' alloys!

These refurbed wheels could then be fitted with winter tyres. :)

Still, an experience I could have done without......

Try Rimfurbish. Details on this thread. They are fantastic. :thumb:

They now have the contract to refurbish all wheels from MB dealerships, so it would be wise to go/post direct to the plant at West Brom.

A full professional refurb starts at £40 per wheel and you can hire slave wheels if you wish whilst yours are being refurbished.

They do also stock ready-refurbished wheels for some models.

Deepest sympathies - I would be absolutely devastated if that happened. I live in fear of wifey kerbing the alloys on her new Jazz - it's on 55 profile tyres but with the tyre not being that wide, there really isn't much sidewall height. I hate alloy's!

You are all fortunate in the UK to have this type of specialist available. Doesn't really exist in Swtzerland apart from one or two companies who charge a fortune and with mixed results. Probably cheaper in comparaison to buy a new wheel than refurbishing (apart from super rare and specialist wheels)

Get some clear nail varnish and paint it on to stop water getting in behind and making it worse untill your ready to get them sorted. :)
