A coinkydink or touch of death?

Mrs D has been feeling unwell, I was late home from work, and so Colonel Sanders cooked dinner tonight.

To avoid a pocket full of change, I reached into the cupholder area in the centre console (W203 C-Class) where the coin tray is.

There's a light in there from around the cigar lighter which has always worked fine, and has been on constantly the last few days as I've had the cover open for the cupholder. Handy though, it's a bit like ambient lighting!!

As I fingered through the coin tray to find that elusive 5p, the blooming light went off!!??

Pressing the cigar lighter lights it up but then it goes out again when it's up to to temperature.



Anyone else had this happen? Can't quite fathom it as my fingers were a couple of inches away from the coin tray!!

Light still out this morning. Tinkered and fingered to no avail.

Occurred to me if the light in the ashtray was working - opened the ashtray and the cigar lighter illuminated. Been on ever since.

Bizarre.

Hope this helps somebody, sometime, maybe. Not.
