My eyes are beginning to wander again (cars of course!), much to my wife's chagrin and annoyance! I would love another convertible, it must be something to do with the weather! I am perfectly content with the CLK55 but there is no harm in window shopping is there?

Ideally I would love a new shape Jaguar XK Convertible (preferably an 'R') in dark blue with ivory/cream leather, I seriously think they are one of the best looking cars on the road today. The early cars (06 plate) are down to the low £30K's but still out of reach. The previous shape XKR is still appealing and I stumbled across this one....

£23995 at the Jaguar Main Dealer in Truro, its a 4.2 XKR Premium (good job it is about 300 miles away form me  ) Stunning and a perfect colour combo and spec. I love the red Brembo's too. I think that it is overpriced for a 5 year old car though.

XKR.....Lovely lovely cars :)

but keep the CLK and buy a MX5.

beautiful specimen. how much do you think it is worth?

I am taking an educated guess but I reckon the dealer has about £4K of margin in that if it sold at the screen price. If I was in a position to buy it I think I would be prepared to pay £23K if it included 2 years of Jaguar Warranty, a service (if needed) and a years tax. It just looks fantastic, I love the 20" alloys (Sepang I think they are called) they look far better than the 5 spoke 20" Detroits that are far more common on the old shape XKRs.

My thoughts exactly, a fast convertible is pointless as above a certain speed the wind noise drowns out all else. A Z4 would also get my nod here too :thumb:

It's getting time to dust off the old SLK.

A new battery and off we go.

(Then it'll start raining the next day!)

.

It looks like my Aston ..... note the hood doesnt have a cover when open. Overall its good value but its easy to be seduced on a lovely day with regret on the not so lovely days !

MX5

why

is he starting up a mobile hairdressing business ?

They're an underestimated car with very good handling characteristics.
As I showed in this thread the MX5 is faster than a ML63AMG around Cadwell Park

The Jag is gorgeous. Lovely as a long term weekend car.

so might somone who is being dragged around behind a F1 car but still does not make it any good

MX5 are :p GAY :p

as are most japanese cars

On days like this I really mis my convertibles, Loved the MX5 MK1 I had, a 1,8i with quite a few mods and went like a go cart. People say that they are hairdressers cars have never driven one.

A few times in mine over the french alps roof down, Nothing £ per smile could be as much fun.

I mis the Z3 and 330 vert but the MX5 was just in a different league. Wife later had the mk2.5 not a good as mine :) :) I've never driven a car with such a flick of the rist gear stick. An S2000 gets close as I nearly bought one instead of the Z but for everyday the engine is too hectic and not many toys on the options list.

Sensible now with a little one athough as soon as we can a convertible I'm sure will be back with us.

I would go for a ZM Roadster for fun days 10K unlikely to get you any quicker roof down than anything out there now.

Sorry, but a Jag XKR convertible is not in the same league as an MX-5!

Peter,

I'm not saying it is not a chance. completely differnent cars at completly different ends on the market.

I also like the XKR's and for the money they look a lot of car.

I would however rather have the running costs of the MX5... three years I had mine all it needed was the servicing and tyres.

How about a new shape CLK500 convertible?

ooh and how about a SL500 / SL55 ?
