My little girl's godmother works at the library - It's a good place for renting DVD's very cheap. 2 movies I really enjoyed watching this weekend.

District 9 - It's about aliens, is filmed in South Africa, and has no famous film stars. It's very original. I thoroughly recommend it.

The Hurt Locker - It's about an America bomb disposal team, working in Iraq. It was violent and graphic but a good movie.

What movies have you seen this weekend?

HD

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation :D

Scarface

Me too.:)

Also watched the rather poor sequal, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation 2- Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure. This sadly is utter garbage:ban:

District 9 is a superb film on many levels.

One I would recommend if you haven't already seen it is Gran Torino.

My 2009 favourite watched films:

Apocalypto
Gran Torino
Anvil
Monster's Ball
American Gangster
La vie on rose

Gran Torino is indeed a fine film. My favourite movie this year by miles.

I wouldn't got quite as far as using 'superb'.

But I'd definitely recommend it. I liked the style, setting, direction and the overall feel. The plot isn't that great - the underlying themes run stronger than it.

Indeed and many 'just won't get it'.

I thought it was superb as the low budget suited the film to the ground - a multi-million pound budget and A list actors wouldn't have worked at all in the way that it did.

Let's hope it's not spoilt by a bad sequel - like District 10?

2012 - if you like end of the world type stuff.
Taking of Pelham 123 - not bad.
