Car
W210 DIESEL AUTO EST,LEXUS GS 450h
Monday 22 November took my Jan 2003 reg diesel estate (one of the last W210`s) to main MB dealership in Velez Malaga on the Costa Del Sol for an A service prior to my travelling back to UK via Pamplona and Limoges on Saturday 27 November .
The car has done 142,000 miles and was given the A service plus new fuel filter and had a bulb replaced behind the water temperature guage. Car was ready for me as promised 3 hours later and the total cost was 306 euros including a whopping 110 euros for 7 litres of engine oil. Labour rate per hour charged was 47 euros per hour

Next morning it would not start..engine turned over readily but would not fire..so phoned Mobilo at 9.30am and after giving them full details of the service history they confirmed that I was covered.(First 3 services at MB Liverpool,4th at Silver Star MB Indie in Lecicestershire and the next 5 at MB in Velez Malaga).
At 11.30am I received a phone call telling me that a low loader was on its way to collect my car.At 12.20pm it arrived and my car was whisked off to MB at Velez. Later that afternoon I was infromed by MB Velez that air was in the fuel line but they would keep it overnight to check that it started ok the next morning.
Next morning I collected the car and was asked to pay an additional 90 euros for replacement of rubber "O" rings.I tried to explain that they had probably caused the problem when replacing the fuel filter, but they showed me some old "O" rings supposedly from my car and some of them had cracked or split.I felt that I was unable to prove anything and so paid up.

I cannot say with certainty that they caused air to enter the fuel line or that they were not my old "O" rings but what I do know is that the car was starting perfectly beforehand !
Mobilo telephoned me later that afternoon to ask if all was well and could they do anything else for me. I then related the above as fact not as a comlaint.
So all in all ,I have had good support from Mobilo 7 years into ownership of my car and will continue to use MB Velez as they provide good value (apart from the oil price) and I have had only this one incident in 5 years.
I file this for information purposes as it relates to Mobilo/Continental Labour Rates and service and hope that it is of interest.:)

I do continue to enjoy Happy Motoring.
Regards
John

I doubt that the replacement of the fuel filter cause your issue. The seals go flat over a priod of time allowing air in the system. Cheap fix though.

mobilo are excellent! great service. My 2009 C class was away on a low loader a few weeks back and ive got nothing but good things to say about mobilo.

wish my dealer charged 47 euros an hour for labour lol

Bit like AA then....No i havnt really ready my pack yet, ive only had the car for a year :-)

Im afraid you are partially correct that changing the fuel filter probably disturbed the seals but im afraid its not their fault that the seals were so flat that they didnt seal on the new filter properly.

Its a common issue and really they should have picked it up when the serviced the car to save the hassle of having to tow it back.

I think that's cheap too - it would be unthinkable to take a car to a UK MB dealer and only get such a bill.

Mine had an issue being slow to start the other day while parked facing up hill - I'm told it's likely to be the same issue as you faced and I would be thrilled to get it sorted for €90!

Nitrile O rings are pennies - we treat them as consumables. I can't believe any professional dealership would re-use one

Cheers,

Gaz
