E63 AMG Estate
After thinking about it for all of about 3 minutes I made the move to buy a forum members old E55k Estate a few days before I went on holiday mid July. Having owned a beautiful E55k estate in Obsidian Black and selling it for all the wrong reasons it's been one of those cars that is one of my first random searches on ebay in the evening with a drink in my hand...

I bought the car unseen after a few chats with the owner and lots of pics exchanged and had a local chap make the journey to go and pick it up quick smart before I went away for 2 weeks. A risky but exciting way to buy a car but at the price it was at and after talking with the owner I felt it was worth a punt! Fortune favours the brave and all that

Nearly 2 months in I've covered well over 1k miles, been to the airport and back, done a 500 mile family loaded round trip to Birmingham & Alton Towers in it and used it to carry out tip run duties when removing walls at home!

To say I'm over the moon with it is an understatement, to use one of these as my daily only car is an absolute pleasure and I cant stop grinning everytime I see it, start it and blast if off down the road. So far I've had the air con issues rectified and removed a little series of dents from the tailgate. I'll try and keep all updated on what it's like to run a 157k mile E55K estate with LPG as a daily! It's a wonderful old thing. Pics to follow!

Welcome to the 55k brigade. Lovely looking car.

Congrats ross..
Although I've found myself one,
Having seen your posts on insta and on here,
I'll still be interested in buying this if you ever decide to sell it..
Looks great..
Cheers Jamie

Hi Jamie

Thanks - the car has been behaving and really put itself in the middle of family life, my hankering for an E60 M5 has passed slightly, for now anyway.

After I sold my last 55 estate my most commonly used phrase was "its not an easy car to replace that". There is very little else that ticks soooo many boxes for me personally.

An E63 bi turbo estate is tempting but its another chunk of money that I dont have after doing a big project on the house!

How you getting on with yours??

Ross

Well here she is nearly 5 months of ownership, just turned 160k miles. What a huge amount of car for the money.

I have used it as i intended to, pick the kids up from school, do the shopping, go to the tip, weekends away and what a job its doing.

Whats an LPG E55K like - works very well, 65p a litre, only issue really is there arent that many stations around that do it so i end up going slightly out of my way to fill up the gas but its a hefty saving. When you REALLY push it switches back to petrol but in everyday pottering about its good as gold. So far ive done a battery, a pair of rear tyres due to a puncture but they were getting low anyway and the heater sometimes doesnt blow for the first few minutes in the morning for some reason so having that investigated.

Recently added a 48k mile 2002 Boxster S but I still find myself going for the keys of this 99% of the time already, maybe that will change in the summer.

Upcoming plans, sort temperamental heater blower, service and may make it slightly noisier but not 100% sure on that.
