Ok so the day started well, cold wet and miserable apart from the occasional sunshine but after the mini ice age that hit the north east a couple of days ago and lasted for 2 weeks a good day to go and try out the new ( to me ) E. class 3.0 TD. Well a wonderful day happily wandering around and watching the fuel guage hardly moving was had and then decided to visit the olds who were at home. After about 1 hour went to go home and what do we find but about 2 inches of snow, where did that come from i wonder...
So very carefully pulled out from the side street and onto the main road, not so bad thinks I. After about 5 or 6 miles i get to within 500 yards of my house and hit the almost unbelievably steep ( maybe 15 degrees upwards ) hill. About 25 yards up this hill i slowly spin to a halt, ASR on, ASR off reverse, take a run, no good. So I struggle to turn around and eventually take a less mountainously steep road home with only a 3 mile detour. Then i get to within 100 yards, I can see my house and again spin slowly to a standstill so the car is now parked a little way down the road until i go and dig and sand / grit up a little route to my door tomorrow. Annoyingly I was going for the recommended 2 bags of sand for the boot to add some rear weighting tomorrow but maybe left it too late. Snow and ice do not mix well with 18" wheels and wide tyres even though they are near new tyres with lots of tread.
Okay just a little ramble there... from my window if I twist my head round like a star of the Excorcist I can see the car and you know what I still think it looks really good, shame it looks good so far away
