A green 300te 4 matic with green leather

Members car

i must be sick too, think the green looks fab.bit confused by the two diffrent wheels listed tho,,obviously a typo?

You're not sick for liking a green interior. I've owned six w126 models and five of them have had a cream leather interior which is a bit tedious. I would have loved to change the colour of some of the leather interiors. Go for it, you know you want to !!

It sold for 720 before with no MOT

Very rare!!! mercedes 300te 4matic automatic 4wd | eBay

What is it really worth?

A : Mint

B : As is

I think mint 2500 to 3000 all painted, working and sorted.

As is, I cant see it being any more than a grand... that 4matic is expensive to fix and its got so many niggles its going to take a really keen person to sort it. The paintwork is a straightforward expense though, 800ish.

Have to admit,i really like this, love the green:Dshame its too far away and too expensive,,,,and i have lots to do on the c124,,,,did they ever do a diesel fired 4matic? sure i saw a foriegn one advertised once,,,or maybe i was dreaming??:dk:

They did indeed do a diesel 4 matic, and also a manual, only us in the UK suffer from a lack of choice as far as W124 was concerned.

Only just saw this. Yes it's my car and revised the price a couple of weeks ago down to £1450.

The triangle light has magically disappeared again and hasn't been seen since, bizarre. It'll come back at a most inopportune moment though probably :) The only light on is the SRS light which comes on once a minute or two. The 4 matic worked fine a few weeks ago when I had the chance to try it in some mud :)

I think the price is fair, especially as I have spent a fair bit on it which would need doing anyhow:
Bill from MercLand for £720'ish a couple of weeks ago
Bill for MOT and Fluids change - £300
New rear silencer - £100
New radiator + thermostat - £100

Odds and sods too, plus the years tax. So I kinda think it's fair. I've had a bit of interest but nothing major but I think that's a sign of the times too. We'll see. Its not costing me anything so I'll hang on to it for now if it doesn't sell.

If only I had the time and skills to finish it off :(

I was really hoping the PX would have helped, all I've been offered was a Volvo C70 which unfortunately is too big once again.

Well I gave up after it didn't sell and have been using it a fair bit. I fixed the electric seats and the dual climate control as well as put some proper wintery tyres on it.

I still can't fix the yellow light on the dash though or the rev counter. It also appears to leak a bit through the rear windows and as such I left it for 2 weeks and it's got a bit of moisture inside it and now the bloody interior fan is making a noise again! I probably fitted it incorrectly.

So it'll soon be for sale again. Any interest before it goes back on eBay?

To be honest I think you are a bit ambitious with your pricing if you want it to sell. I reckon the secret is to price it such that truly interested people will actually come and see it. If its a sound vehicle genuine buyers will make you an offer- get a few interested and you might get a bit more than you asked for .:dk:

Thanks Grober for your suggestions. I'll be honest the car does need lots of work but I'm running out of time at the moment.

What would you think would be a better figure? I'm open to suggestions.

Cheers,
Dan

You need to set a base price which you are not prepared to go below. A price where you feel you would be giving it away versus how anxious you are to get rid of it. Its a sort of " time is money" thing. Without seeing it I would say £750- £995 = priced below that important psychological 4 figure barrier!

4MATICs make excellent tow vehicles & so are v. popular with the race & classic car boys. Also the horsey set.

Advertise it in places where they look.

Thanks Grober, much appreciated. I'll pop up the eBay ad tonight then at £995 again, I'm in no rush to sell, it's paid for and is costing me nothing I just can justify keeping it now. I even looked at some of the restoration sites (and threads on here) but to pay someone to get it mint would cost me a fortunate and I'd never see half of the money back.

That's a bit of the reason I bought it. I have a trackday car I was contemplating towing to tracks as I couldn't be bothered driving it there and back :)
