A quick hello...and hopefully some advice...

Hi everbody,
Been looking to treat myself to a nice R129, so thought i'd better join MBClub as you guys seem to know a little bit about the marque.
I'm up in Scotland, Fife to be (sort of) exact.
Up until about a month ago, i'd been looking to buy a Triumph Stag, but once I realised that I would probably spend more time fixing it than driving it around with a stupid grin on my face, I started to look for an alternative.
So, yep...looking to drive around with my stupid grin in an SL500 within the week.

As for the advice...i'll put that in the general discussions bit in a minute so I don't get into trouble on my first post!

I had a Stag for many years, went like the wind, best sounding V8 I've ever heard apart from race engines. The steering was way better than a similar Merc's even better than a 129's I'd say. Let down by the half shafts the rear subframe and the water pump being too high in the valley for the radiator. But at least a Merc will be quieter and you can get Genuine Parts for a Merc as well as Factory advice etc etc.
