As you may know, the W124 (well, mine at least) has a small, carpeted piece on the centre console under the fold-down armrest. This of course tends to get filthy, with everything from coke (the drink, not the powder......) to monkey-spunk being spilt on it over the years.
The amazing fact is thus - you can pull it out, and put it in the washing machine to clean it. Mine turned from a sticky, matted mess to what looked like a new piece in one wash. 60 degrees c, prewash and main wash, "Heavy soil" setting on your machine if you have one. Add a touch of fabric conditioner if you like that "dried in a spring breeze" smell.
Afterwards, just stick it back down again with the glue of your choice, and poke the edges under the plastic of the console where they used to go.
I bet you people are just RUSHING out to your cars this second, after this thrilling nugget of information.
