Hi there, I have 1995 A124 cabriolet and the door lock barrels on driver and passenger sides have stopped working. We have all the usual things to free them but it hasn't worked. I have searched everywhere for replacements - Ebay, Mercedes but I have not been able to replace. Apparently the cabriolet uses different lock barrels to the coupe and the saloon and they have been impossible to source. Can anyone advise? Or know of a car that is being broken? Thanks lots Roger

Do you mean they have seized up, or they wont trigger the central locking?

I would expect a 1995 to only have a barrel in the passenger side, most had the IR receiver where the drivers side barrel used to be.

Thanks for your response...the key is so difficult to turn in both that I fear it'll break the key off in them...

As far as I know the actual barrels are the same as any other w124, a 95 should have a small bit of silver trim on the outer housing as opposed to plain grey. I cant think of any other difference.

They do need to be able to turn to remove them, otherwise it risks damage. I would keep spraying something like GT85 into them and let it soak in. If you have a secure garage you can keep the car safe in, once they turn and are removed, let them soak in a bowl of petrol for a few days to free them up.

You will IGNh.jpg You need to remove the barrels and work on them ..i did ..
