Morning all, my 93 cabrio has just developed a missfire on initial start up, hot or cold.
It lasts for approx 30 seconds, feels like it’s firing on 2/3 then all ok. After that it runs fine.
Since i replaced loom and throttle body ( 4 years ago) it’s not missed a beat, this started after a 100 mile classic run couple of weeks ago?
Before I go to garage, any ideas ?

Hi, start working from the plugs back, could be that simple.

Thanks, tried plugs but it also appears to be using/losing water…… not overheating…..
I’m wondering if head gasket problem with slight leak into cylinder , water collects, startup has missfire due to water, then clears as engine runs……possible ? And how to confirm !

The M111 engine is pretty robust but can blow its cylinder head gasket. This can lead to head porosity/corrosion meaning weld repair and subsequent skim of the casting. It should then be good for another hundred thousand miles! Have a look at the plugs that may give you a clue. Otherwise it's a compression test.
