W204 c250 cgi facelift petrol 2011
Hi guys

My father in law has a 2008 a class a150 petrol automatic which does not start. Lights on the dash appear, but when turning the key the engine does not start...

Battery is fine
Tried the spare key, still no joy

Could this be a relay, starter motor or ignition issue?

Any ideas?

A little more information would help.
Does engine spin over and not start ?
Does engine not turn at all ?
Has it had any issues of late ?
There could be different offers of advice depending on the conditions

Is it in gear?
Are you putting you foot on the brake before starting it?

I know it sounds obvious, but as its your father in laws car, perhaps you are not aware.

Starter motor is a prime candidate, these A series seem to go through starters, what normally happens is the owner thinks the car will not start because the battery is a few years old,so they replace the battery, and just maybe it works for a couple of times then nothing,it nearly always comes down to a stuck starter motor and the best way forward is to replace it.

Engine just not turn, doesn't crank, there is just a clicking noise

A day prior it didn't start, 5 mins later it started

Yep its the starter motor, how difficult are these to replace? Any guide available?

Think this is a W169, its quite difficult on W168s.

Cheers, did see the video and Bert's Rowe's guidance, such a tedious and time consuming job just to replace the starter motor! Nightmare!

Well the diesel A series has the starter motor at the bottom of the engine and it is not easy,
