Went to look at one last night for the Mrs ( 2005 A150 Petrol ) and when i kept my foot on the accelerator pedal it wouldn't hold its revs ?

I would rev it to 3000rpm and try to hold it there but the revs kept dropping. The salesman told me they may have some type of rev limiter built into the ECU but i think he was unsure.

Also as i was sat in the rear there was a whining noise coming from the rear. I noticed it had a towbar fitted and though maybe the wheel bearings were on there way out - is this a common fault ?

Any advice welcome

Thanks
Matt

Was it an auto?
If so it is a CVT & will usually run at relatively low revs- often our B class 2.0T CVT does approx 1800rpm at 70mph

I would not recommend towing much at all in a A150!

It won't redline while stationary .... our A class ( model before the one you looked at ) won't rev past 4k while stationary.

Get it on a STAR before you buy , get the fault sheet. Good bargaining tool too.

Take it for a test drive to the nearest indy , and have a STAR test. ;)

That whine maybe cheapo tyres.
