A160 Alarm Dongles

I have just bought a 2001 A160 Auto.
Both key sets include small dongles that I think are to do with the factory fitted alarm system.
I guess that they slot into a socket somewhere on the car, but where or why I know not.
Can anyone help please?

I've been a Lofty's A Class Info reader for years but I managed to miss the Scorpion page when I scrolled through last week.

My car is 10 years old so i wonder what state the siren batteries are in !

My neighbour went away for the weekend and her car siren went off and didn't stop for the 24 hours or so it took for the council to tow it away
