Hi all, recently acquired a 2019 a200, it’s an auto 1.3. I know very little about these cars. The I think it is a w177? The panoramic roof worked fine, but today we tried to move back the blind after closing the blind, and it doesn’t do anything , nor does the roof retract. I have checked the fuse under the passenger seat in the fuse box but no luck, the 30amp looks fine. Any other suggestions welcome. I have been looking at the functions etc having the dash on a lot without engine running. Wondered if a low battery would cause it, but yet it was fine earlier. I googled a few reset procedures but there is no way to push the button forward, it presses in, pulls down, or pulls back.

Thank you

Get the dealer to fix it if you just bought it ?
Is there a procedure in the cars manual ?
If the engine is running that will rule out the low battery problem.
You have an MB specialist …Star Mercedes , just outside Reading if that helps .

Beaten to it :). No replies when I looked, there when I started to reply! Yes, as above; can't definitively say that the roof won't work if the battery is low but MBs do restrict availability of certain items if battery is getting low, so worth a try.

Thanks both. had it on a trickle charger but it it’s only a small charger for a motorcycle battery, looking at the battery they’re 850amps so assume that will need something bigger to charge it. Have checked just now and says 12v battery warning check owners manual, so maybe this is the issue. Car has been sat for a couple of weeks (was a relatives car), and it does have an extended warranty so will book into Mercedes Reading if the battery charging doesn’t resolve it. There’s long lead times for that garage. Our relative who owned it had a coolant leak from the water pump I think it was, and had to wait over 3 x weeks to get it booked in and fixed.

No such luck charging overnight, got battery to a decent voltage, but still no roof working. However have read this happening to other people, and maybe it actually needs a new battery as it was only showing 12.1v after a quick drive. There’s also the aux battery I understand, and the stop start isn’t working so I guess if that also operates the roof it might decide it’s not got enough power in the battery to operate the panoramic roof

850amps???....nope!..........that would be one hell of a battery!....85 perhaps.....or even 850 cold crank amps? If it is 850 amps you will need one of these to charge it!!

Have you tried it with the engine running? That takes the battery out of the equation.

Have you checked the rood tracks for debris?

if all clear - try this (you never know it may be slightly different to what you have already tried)

Tried with engine running, no change. It’s an odd one as it was working just fine. Think a new battery is in order anyway so will see if that resolves it. Has a warranty so worst case will take it in

Can’t open it to check the tracks ?

Sorry, I misread your post/op.

Have you tried gentle banging on the top, outer edges of the roof - you never know.

Did you reset the switches

Had a go but wasn’t clear what the procedure was. Checked the fuse and that’s fine. Am convinced it’s battery related but surprised it hasn’t started working after a charge up using a battery charger overnight. It was working fine; but we’ve spent a bit of time with the ignition on, not engine running (it worked originally fine like this). But then after one more open / close, it has now stopped working entirely. I wonder if it could be related to the aux battery. I also read someone else had this issue and it wasn’t until a drive of 20 minutes that it started working again.

Did you look at the video posted on here

I did, the button doesn't go forward though in the car, it goes up, down, and back. Yet the reset video has the guy pressing it forward. Will have to take it on to mercedes, as it has a mercedes warranty. But thought i would see if i could resolve it first as the next appointment available is not until beginning of June.

The forward button is for the sunroof blind

the button doesn’t move forward though, it’s at its stop point if that makes sense. It presses up, it pulls down, and it pushes back. I know how it works as it worked before, but there isn’t a way to push it forward.

Do you have a sunroof blind

Yep
