MB A200 CDI TIP AVANTGARDE
Hi Guys,

I had a tranmission error flash up on my 06 A200 CDI TIP (70k miles otherwise in great condition!) a couple of days ago which meant i couldn't go over 40mph. I took it to the local garage who plugged it in and cleared the error - it then drove ok again.

Previous to this it had been squeeking for the first 5 miles of a journey then stopping.

The error message said '0894 - Steel thrust belt in CVT is slippling'

I then took it to another garage who said it was an internal fault in the gearbox module and they would have to spend 12 hours removing it and sending it away...basically write a blank cheque:doh:

So....

1. Has anyone else had this issue?
2.If i was to sell it now what would it be worth?
3.Does centrafugal clutch mean anything to anyone as this was suggested by someone else.

I'd appreciate any help!
Thanks!

The transmission is a cvt unit it has a primary pulley & a secondary pulley which the belt runs around if there is a loss of pressure in the pulleys then you will have slipping codes take the car to a local automatic transmission specialist & they should keep you right ( but its not a cheap job ) good luck

No idea if these are meant to be a sealed unit but if not - when was the last service? Would a fluid swap help? I'd have thought new goo would help keep pressure up and stop it thinking it was slipping.
